I am a materials scientist with research interests including nanomaterials and electronics, focusing on 2D layered materials such as graphene. As a technology enthusiast with a passion for design and a desire to create, I combine my talents and expertise in novel ways through art, science and innovation. Below are my research topics and publications, as well as my artistic and graphic design porfolio.

As a bridge between the technical and non-technical worlds, I am adept at making the language of scientific research and technology accessible to a broader audience, both through writing and as an artist who designs cover art, 3D schematics, animation, and presentation graphics. I have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, having developed technology-based business plans and prototypes for novel products and services in a variety of industries.

Graphene Nanoelectronics

These atomically thin sheets of carbon atoms provide both exceptional strength and unique electronic properties that enables new and improved devices for a new age of possibilities, having been incorporated into computing, displays, batteries, solar cells, sensors and more.

2D Layered Materials

Boron nitride and molybdenum disulfide are among many crystalline compounds that form stacked 2D sheets and can be isolated similarly to graphene. Their insulating and semiconducting properties, in contrast to graphene, enable a range of opportunities for designing complex devices by stacking these layers into particular arrangements.

Strain Engineering and Flexible Devices

The flexibility of nanoscale materials offers new opportunities in engineering of electronics. By stretching and bending, the electronic properties can be tuned and new phenomena may emerge (e.g. high pseudomagnetic fields). Engineering these flexible materials enables innovative designs for more robust soft devices and robotics as well as biointerfacing and wearable technology.
